The International Institute relies on donations to maintain services and respond quickly to emerging needs. It is a federally-recognized tax-exempt organization under IRS 501(c)(3), and donations to the Institute are tax deductible.

Plan Ahead: Contact the Institute about making an honorary gift or other specialized giving arrangement, such as naming the International Institute in a will, life insurance, or estate plan. 

HOUSEHOLD AND PERSONAL ITEMS:

The Refugee Resettlement Department needs help to establish homes for newly-arrived refugees. The items needed for each new refugee family are listed in the Warm Welcome Refugee Resettlement Program Item List.

Overall, the International Institute can accept new or very gently used:
• Appliances: clocks, coffee pots, heaters, microwave ovens, radios, television sets, vacuum cleaners
• Bed/Bath: blankets/comforters, curtains, curtain rods, rugs, and shower curtains
• Furniture: bed frames, chairs, couches, dining chairs, dining tables, dressers, lamps, tables
• Kitchen: cleaning supplies, cooking utensils, dishes, glasses/cups, pots and pans, silverware, towels/pot holders
• Miscellaneous: bicycles, games, musical instruments, sewing machines, toys
• School: notebooks, pens and pencils, paper, scissors

In some cases donation pick-up is available, but due to space limitations the International Institute can only accept item donations with advance notice. To donate to the Refugee Resettlement Program, please contact (314) 773-9090 ext. 161 or  bekemeyers@iistl.org.
