International Cooking Classes

The International Institute of St. Louis is now offering international cooking classes beginning October 15. Classes are taught by immigrant chefs who will not only share their cooking skills but also their culture. They are held in our 1950’s decorated home ec room with 4 cooking stations.

The classes are a group cooking experience. You will leave with recipes and skills required to recreate the dish at home. Our goal is to share our cooking expertise in a fun and relaxed environment. We provide a fully equipped kitchen with all the supplies needed to create a great meal.

Bring a friend or make a new one while you’re here!

FAQs

How can I register for a cooking class, and what is your policy on large groups?

At this time you can only sign-up on our website. Payment is required at the time of registration. For groups of 6 or more we ask that you email Christina at juelfsc@iistl.org.  Large groups can adversely affect the class experience for other students, so a private event may be a better option. Our goal is to provide the best possible class experience for ALL class participants, so we reserve the right to deny large groups access to classes. If the class you are interested in is full, you can choose to be placed on our waiting list.

How many people do the class prices cover?

Prices listed are per person per class.

Where can I park?

Park in the parking lot behind the International Institute. Entrance is off of Louisana.

Is there anything I need to bring to class?

We'll provide all supplies, food and equipment needed for class. We'll provide you with an apron to wear during class  You're more than welcome to bring a special beverage of your choice, otherwise leave everything else to us!

How many participants are in each class?

In general, most classes are limited to 16 students.  For groups of 5 or more we ask that you email juelfsc@iistl.org to register. Large groups can adversly affect the class experience for other students, so a private event may be a better option. Our goal is to provide the best class experience possible for ALL cllass participants, so we reserve the right to deny large groups access to classes..

How much food is available during the classes?

In all classes, students enjoy the dish/meal prepared by the group. Serving sizes vary per dish and menu.

Are alcoholic beverages allowed? Are classes BYOB?

You are more than welcome to bring your own soft drinks, beer or wine to class, and we will provide glasses. There is no corkage fee. We do supply water during the class.  We ask that class participants moderate their alcohol in respect for other participants.  Please remember the more you drink, the less you learn...

What is your cancellation policy?

Those who provide cancellation one week (seven days) in advance will receive a full refund. No refund can be given less than seven days in advance.

Are classes ever canceled?

Unfortunately some classes are canceled due to insufficient enrollment. If a class has been canceled, students will be notified by phone and can apply the class fee to any future class, or opt to receive a refund.
