Our Workforce Solutions Job Placement team connects our diverse, motivated candidates to a variety of opportunities in the St. Louis Region, from entry level to professional positions within a variety of industries. Our candidates are immigrants and refugees living in the City and County of St. Louis, have diverse backgrounds and educational experiences, and have work authorization.
Our screening and referral services are offered at no fee to the employer or the job seeker.

Our services include assessment, orientation, job readiness classes and other training, case management, placement, and follow up. Most registrants graduate from Job Readiness Class at the Institute. Skills developed include:
- Job search
- Application preparation
- Interview techniques
- Work schedules & shifts
- Employee rights & obligations
- Pay rates & benefits
- Understanding a paycheck, and
- Job success
Basic financial literacy topics are also included, such as, understanding US currency, establishing a bank account, writing checks & using debit cards, and paying bills.

First-Step Job Skills Development Classes
Each class is taught by an experienced instructor accustomed to working with non-native English speakers The majority of students are recently-arrived refugee adults. There is no cost for those who are low-income. Check with the program coordinator regarding tuition cost for other applicants. Most programs are certified to operate by the Missouri Department of Higher Education.
